Mohammed Siraj Becomes Leading Wicket-Taker In India–England Tests 2025

Siraj has looked in top-notch form in the ongoing five-match Test series against England and has only gotten better as the series has progressed.

His best performances have come in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and whenever he has been leading the pace-bowling attack of the India National Cricket Team.

In the ongoing match at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj was initially taken to the cleaners by the England batters, but he quickly made a comeback and ran riot.

He dismissed Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Jacob Bethell to complete his three-wicket haul, but he wasn’t done there as he also dismissed Harry Brook to wrap up the England innings for 247.

On the second ball of the 52nd over, Siraj bowled a short-length delivery to Harry Brook, who only managed to edge it back onto his stumps and got out for 53 runs off 64 balls.

Siraj finished with the figures of 16.2-1-86-4 and became the leading-wicket taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 with 18 scalps in his bag. He surpassed the England skipper Ben Stokes in the list as he had bagged 17 wickets before being ruled out of the fifth Test match due to an injury.

The warrior Siraj has been relentless with his approach – Dinesh Karthik

Speaking on Sky Sports, former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik hailed Siraj as a warrior for helping India stage a comeback. He stated:

“England were running away with this with bat and ball but as has happened in this series, the team that found it hard in one session has come back – and India came back properly.

“They bowled much fuller, much better, brought the stumps into play. The warrior Siraj has been relentless with his approach and the whole India attitude has been great after they were blown away in the morning. All three pacers bowled their hearts out.”

Dinesh Karthik was also impressed with the half-century smashed by the English batter Harry Brook. He said:

“Brook has played some audacious shots – stepping out to the fast bowlers – and weathered the storm with wickets falling around him..An important innings for England.”

Meanwhile, pace-bowling legend Stuart Broad said that Mohammed Siraj is a type of bowler that every team would love to have in their line-up. He stated:

“Siraj is one of those bowlers you’d like to play with, someone you want in your team. He leaks the odd boundary but he plays with passion, keeps coming at you, bowls good balls and gets good players out.”
