Virat Kohli Set to Continue Domestic Return Ahead of India’s ODI Series vs New Zealand
Virat Kohli is set to continue his domestic return when he turns out for Delhi in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Railways on January 6 in Bengaluru, as confirmed by Rohan Jaitley.
Kohli has already made a strong impact in the tournament, scoring 208 runs from two matches, including a century against Andhra Pradesh and a quick-fire fifty against Gujarat.
The right-handed batter made his return to the competition after 15 years. During this stint, he reached major milestones, including 1,000 Vijay Hazare Trophy runs and 16,000 List A runs. Kohli also became the fastest batter to reach the 16,000-run mark in the format.
Attention will now shift to the international stage, with Kohli set to resume ODI duties when India begin a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting on January 11.
Virat Kohli Ends 2025 On a Stellar Note For Team India
Virat Kohli finished 2025 in excellent form, delivering strong performances in ODIs. In the three-match ODI series against South Africa, Kohli scored 302 runs at an average of 151 and a strike rate of 117.05. He recorded scores of 135, 102, and 65 not out against the Proteas.
Overall in 2025, Kohli played 13 ODIs and scored 651 runs at an average of 65.10 with a strike rate of 96.15. He also made 158 runs in four matches against Australia at an average of 52.66 and scored 100 runs in a single match against Pakistan.
Kohli registered seven fifty-plus scores during the year, including three hundreds and four fifties. His best knock was 135 off 120 balls against South Africa in Ranchi, where he hit 11 fours and seven sixes. He also scored 102 off 93 balls in Raipur and an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls against Pakistan.
