Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Dominates Final With Stunning 175-Run Knock
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi came into the final after scoring a quick fifty in the semi-final against Afghanistan. He faced a tough opening spell with the new ball from Sebastian Morgan and had to settle in after opener Aaron George was dismissed early.
Sooryavanshi steadied the innings by building a big partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre. He picked up the pace towards the end of the powerplay, hitting four boundaries in the ninth over and putting pressure back on the bowlers.
The left-hander reached his half-century off 32 balls and then shifted gears. Over the next 23 deliveries, he smashed eight boundaries and moved rapidly into the nineties.
After Mhatre’s dismissal, Sooryavanshi stayed calm and completed his century. He continued the attack after reaching three figures, taking on left-arm spinner Ralphie Albert for five boundaries in a row in the 22nd over. Suryavanshi finished with 175 off 80 balls, including 15 fours and 15 sixes.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Smashes Second-Fastest Century in U19 World Cup History
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed the second-fastest hundred in U19 World Cup history. Only Australia batter Will Malajczuk has reached a century quicker, doing so in 51 balls against Japan.
Sooryavanshi also became the youngest centurion ever in a U19 World Cup and the youngest to score a hundred in a final. He broke the record for most sixes in the competition’s history, surpassing South Africa’s Dewald Brevis.
Sooryavanshi finished as the highest run-scorer of the 2026 edition after overtaking Afghanistan’s Faisal Shinozada’s tally of 435 runs. He joined an elite list of players to score a century in a U19 World Cup final.
Overall, he became the sixth batter to register a hundred in an ICC U19 World Cup final and only the third Indian to achieve the feat. The others on the list are Unmukt Chand, Manjot Kalra, Brett Williams, Jarrad Burke, and Stephen Peters. He also recorded the highest individual score in a U19 World Cup final.
