South Africa set for high-voltage cricketing year; Australia first up in WTC defence

Today, after the famous win against India, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has revealed the South Africa National Men’s Team international fixtures for the 2026/27 home season, with Test cricket and ODIs. It is going to be a busy time against Australia, Bangladesh, and England.

Blockbuster season awaits South Africa

At first, the Proteas will be hosting the Aussies for a three-match ODI series scheduled from 24-30 September 2026. The opening game for the same fixture has been scheduled at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.

It will be followed by the annual Pink Day fixture, in which the home team will wear pink jerseys in support of the breast cancer awareness program, at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on 27 September. The final match of the series will be at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on 30 September.

It will also be a preparation for the ICC ODI World Cup 2027, which will be hosted in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. After the white-ball series, both teams will be lining up for the ICC World Test Champions (WTC) cycle 2025-2027 in a three-match test series from 9 to 31 October.

Then there will be two Test matches held against Bangladesh. The first Test is being played from 19 to 23 November 2026. Then the next on 27 November to 1st December. As the Proteas will try to defend the WTC title.

‘Every ODI series from here forms part of our preparation for that global event’- Pholetsi Moseki

Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming three strong cricketing nations in Australia, Bangladesh and England. These tours will undoubtedly draw fans from across the country to our stadiums. We anticipate a vibrant and competitive summer that celebrates the very best of international cricket in South Africa.

The home campaign will end with a three-ODI series against England, which will also be a part of the preparation for the major event. The matches are scheduled to take place from 10 January and will end on 15 January 2027. There was also a T20I series lined up, but due to a busy schedule, both the management have decided to reschedule it at a later date.

“Next season carries significant importance for both our test and ODI teams. We have made a promising start to the new World Test Championship cycle, including a hard-fought 1-1 series draw against Pakistan and an impressive 2-0 victory over India, and it is important that we continue to build on that momentum and strengthen our position on the WTC table.

Pholetsi Moseki concluded his statement saying, “On the white-ball front, our focus remains firmly on building towards hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027. Every ODI series from here forms part of our preparation for that global event, not only as proud hosts, but as a team determined to compete strongly on home soil.”
