Jammu and Kashmir skipper Paras Dogra had to walk off the field, retired hurt in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final against Karnataka after copping a searing blow. The right-handed batter was struck on his collarbone while trying to fend off a Prasidh Krishna delivery on the opening day of the summit clash.
Jammu and Kashmir opted to bat first after winning the toss at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli on Tuesday, February 24. However, the team lost the first wicket for 18 runs in 10.2 overs. Qamran Iqbal scored just 6 runs off 36 balls before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the first innings of the match.
Paras Dogra Forced to Retire Hurt After Being Struck on Collarbone in Ranji Trophy Final
Paras Dogra suffered a painful blow when a short delivery struck him. The ball hit him on the collarbone, and he immediately showed signs of discomfort. The physio rushed onto the field, and Dogra was put through the mandatory concussion test.
An ice pack was also applied to his right thumb after the ball appeared to brush his glove. Dogra never looked comfortable after the hit. On the advice of head coach Ajay Sharma, he walked off the field as a precaution and was declared retired hurt. His exit was a big setback for Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdul Samad walked in as the new batter after Dogra left the field. The skipper scored 9 runs off 48 deliveries before walking off during the ongoing match.

Shubham Pundir Hits Century as J&K Dominate Ranji Trophy Final
Jammu and Kashmir strengthened their position with a strong partnership in the middle. Shubham Pundir and Abdul Samad kept the scoreboard moving smoothly. Pundir looked in complete control and moved into the nervous nineties before the final hour of the day.
Pundir then completed a memorable century in the Ranji Trophy final. The left-hander paced his innings well and rose to the occasion on the biggest stage of the domestic season, producing a calm and composed hundred in the summit clash.
At the time of writing, Jammu and Kashmir were placed at 248/2 after 79 overs. Shubham Pundir was unbeaten on 105 off 200 balls, while Abdul Samad supported him with 28 off 40 deliveries. Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets for 30 from 15 overs.
We Have Kept Everything Simple – Paras Dogra
After winning the toss, Paras Dogra said that the pitch looked dry and could start turning after three or four days. He added that the team had kept things simple, focused on the basics, and felt conditions had gone in their favour.
Dogra also confirmed that the side were forced to make two changes. Jammu and Kashmir brought in Sahil Lotra and Qamran Iqbal for the final, replacing Shubham Khajuria and Vanshaj Sharma in the playing XI.
“We will bat first. The pitch looks dry, and it might start turning after three or four days. We have kept everything simple and stuck to the basics, and god has been with us. Two forced changes for us,” Paras Dogra said.
