Not Ravindra Jadeja! Krunal Pandya combines South Africa legend and New Zealand star as ultimate fielder

Virat Kohli Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya turned an intense, rapid-fire round episode hilarious with his innovative answer. While he had to find out the best fielder among some of the best in the case, the Indian all-rounder combined two different persons’ names, funnily.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) shared a video with their star spin bowling all-rounder Krunal Pandya on Instagram. The purpose of the video was to discover the best fielder according to Pandya.

Krunal Pandya chose the greatest fielder of all-time

The beginning of the video was in a normal 1v1 comparison between Suresh Raina and Yuvraj. Among these two former Indian cricketers, Pandya voted for Raina. For the second set of comparison, he left Raina out of the equation for Mohammad Kaif. In the third set, he chose Andrew Symonds instead of Kaif.

After the third set to comparison, the contest took an unexpected turn as Pandya faced a very challenging situation. For the fourth set, it was between Symonds and Jonty Rhodes. Krunal Pandya picked up the South African legend Jonty Rhodes. In the fifth round, it was Rhodes vs Ab de Villiers, Pandya said, “Jonty Rhodes”.

Krunal Pandya combined Jonty Rhodes and Glenn Phillips

Now guess, between Jonty Rhodes and New Zealand’s current cricketer Glenn Phillips, Pandya voted for whom? As he failed to pick up only one among these two brilliant fielders, Pandya said, “Jonty Phillips” with a broad smile on his face. According to the rules of the game, he was supposed to mention only one of the two names.

By pronouncing “Jonty Phillips”, he actually broke the rule, but it was a funny, most importantly, an innovative way to bend the barriers. So the game went on.

The RCB star even denied Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli against “Jonty Phillips”

Eventually, “Jonty Phillips” topped the chart by defeating the remaining candidates like Ravindra Jadeja, Glenn Maxwell, and Virat Kohli.

The 34-year-old spin bowling allrounder is all set to feature in another Indian Premier League season for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Behind RCB’s triumphant season in 2025, Pandya played a massive role with the ball. The slow left-arm orthodox bagged 17 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.23. With the bat, he scored a total of 109 runs in 7 innings, including the highest of an unbeaten 73.

In the summit clash of the IPL 2025, between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings (RCB vs PBKS), Krunal Pandya played a decisive role in the game. With his orthodox spin bowling, the experienced cricketer scalped twice in his four-over spell against only 17 runs. An economy rate of 4.25 with 2 precious wickets was the dream spell for the bowler.

Pandya clinched two important batters of PBKS in the form of Prabhsimran Singh (26 off 22) and Josh Inglish (39 off 23), both were the well set batters. Batting first, RCB scored 190 for 9 in 29 overs, supported by Virat Kohli’s 43 off 35.

PBKS tried as much as possible until the last ball of the match, but they managed to get 184 in 20 overs. RCB claimed their maiden IPL trophy, winning the final match of the IPL 2025 by only 6 runs.
