Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been the centre of attraction amid a growing controversy over his participation in the upcoming IPL. Mustafizur’s social media post claiming a major milestone has thrilled all amid the BCCI’s diktat against Bangladesh cricketers.
Mustafizur, the left-arm pace bowling sensation from Bangladesh, was bought for a massive INR 9.20 crores in the IPL 2026 mini-auction by the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, ever since the bid was made by the Knight Riders, they have been subdued by immense family pressure.
Mustafizur, amid the ongoing debate, has continued to perform well on the field, as he is currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and things have taken a different turn after his last outing in the BPL.
Mustafizur Rahman to be released by KKR as per BCCI’s diktat
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India asked the Kolkata Knight Riders to release the Bangladesh pacer ahead of the 2026 IPL season. KKR will be able to use the funds wisely if it replaces Rahman with other players.
KKR bought him for a whopping INR 9.20 crores, which was way more than his base price of INR 2 crores, after an intense bidding war with the Delhi Capitals and the Chennai Super Kings. Considering the political pressure faced by the BCCI, they have issued the diktat to the Knight Riders to release the player from the squad.
As per the information from BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia, the BCCI asked KKR to release the Bangladesh paceman from the team, and they have also been allowed to pick a replacement player.
When asked about the reason behind the call, he added, “Because of recent developments all across.” However, Mustafizur has been performing exceptionally across every tournament he has been playing in.
