Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan has made a complete mockery of himself as well as the nation after he became the first overseas player to be retired out in the history of the BBL.
However, the latest claims reveal that the skipper and head coach of the Melbourne Renegades have apologized to the Pakistan batter for the disrespectful conduct.
The Big Bash League is featuring Pakistan players Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam alongside many others in the ongoing 15th edition of the tournament. The Melbourne Renegades picked wicket-keeper batter Rizwan, while Babar was named by the Sydney Sixers.
Mohammad Rizwan humiliated Pakistan after being retired out in the BBL
In their last game against the Sydney Thunder, when the Melbourne Renegades, who are already the second-last team in the points table, found themselves in a slow patch due to Mohammad Rizwan’s slow approach in the format, the BBL witnessed its first bizarre move.
Skipper Will Sutherland called Mohammad Rizwan back, and he was declared retired out as the skipper walked out to the middle. However, the skipper’s stay was cut short by a runout.
Rizwan, whose innings came to an end after 26 runs off 23 balls, felt humiliated to become the first overseas cricketer to be retired out in the history of the BBL. His head hung in shame, and his hopes to play the T20 World Cup for Pakistan were also crushed.
Melbourne Renegades’ skipper and coach seek forgiveness from Rizwan over the disrespectful conduct
Some reports through the Pakistani media have claimed that the BBL team’s skipper, Will Sutherland, and the head coach of the team were ashamed of their behavior towards the Pakistani veteran.
The reports further claim that they have apologized to the Pakistani wicket-keeper batter and have said that such an act would not be repeated; however, nothing has been made official by the BBL franchise.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan should work on their strike rates
While Mohammad Rizwan has managed to score just 167 runs in his 8 innings for the Renegades, Babar Adam’s stats are even poorer, with just 154 runs in the BBL with two half-centuries. Other than the lack of runs, their batting strike rate has also been very poor.
“You have talked extensively on your shows and YouTube about how Babar and Rizwan must improve their strike rates. What happened to Rizwan has not only caused mockery worldwide but has also created a sense of humiliation. Some are even saying Rizwan should leave the league and return home,” said Kamran Akmal, one of the former Pakistani stars.
“Absolutely. I also believe this should not happen; he is our top player and a proven performer. However, you have to realize how fast these leagues are,” he continued.
“Every country is now following the modern-day approach to cricket, so it is vital to develop yourself accordingly. We have seen similar tactical moves in the ILT20 and the IPL,” he mentioned.
