A viral post claimed former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq had accused the match between India and the USA of being fixed during the T20 World Cup 2026, but that was not the truth. However, Inzamam was seen praising Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav for his composed knock against the USA, exposing the circulating quote as fake.
India opened their T20 World Cup campaign with a victory over the United States of America on Saturday, February 7, at the Wankhede Stadium. After losing the toss, Team India batted first and posted 161/9 in their 20 overs. In reply, the USA managed 132/8 as India sealed a 29-run win in their opening match.
Suryakumar Yadav Rescues India After Top-Order Collapse
India struggled early after being asked to bat on a slow Wankhede pitch. The top order collapsed quickly, with Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube falling for golden ducks. Ishan Kishan scored 20 off 16 as India slipped to 46/4 in the powerplay and later 77/6.
Suryakumar Yadav then took charge under pressure. He started cautiously and was 5 off 11 balls at one stage but stayed calm and rebuilt the innings. After settling at the crease, the right-handed batter began attacking the bowlers and shifted the momentum.

Inzamam-ul-Haq said that India won their match against the USA, but the USA deserved appreciation for the way they played and approached the game.

Suryakumar Yadav Ko Credit Dena Chahiye – Inzamam-ul-Haq
Inzamam-ul-Haq also said that the match briefly tilted when India lost their first three batters. However, he felt the situation never slipped out of control because of Suryakumar Yadav. Inzamam stated that Suryakumar played with freedom and confidence under pressure.
“India ke pehle teen player out huye thay, wahan yeh lag raha tha ke shayad USA inko bhi pakad sakta hai.
