Internal fight erupts in Pakistan camp after Shadab Khan’s controversial statement

Shadab Khan slammed by former cricketers

Former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Amir, Rashid Latif, and Ahmed Shehzad hit back at the star all-rounder Shadab Khan on live television after his controversial statement regarding the team’s embarrassing defeat against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Big drama has exploded after Pakistan’s 102-run win over Namibia in Colombo. With this victory, the Men in Green booked their place in the Super Eights of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Shadab Khan’s controversial take on 90s legends

Recently, Shadab Khan slammed the former Pakistan cricketers who have been attacking the team for poor performances. He boldly reminded everyone that this current team achieved something historic by beating India in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

That victory was Pakistan’s first-ever World Cup win over India. Speaking at the press conference, Shadab stated, “Former cricketers have their own opinions. They were legends, but even they could not achieve what we have. We have beaten India in a World Cup.

I cannot control criticism. Former cricketers are legends; no doubt individually they were great, but they could not do it for the team. That is why we are here. We beat India in 2021, which is something even they couldn’t.”

Rashid Latif mocks Shadab Khan

His comments did not go down well with some of the former stars. Rashid Latif took a sarcastic dig and even dragged senior player Fakhar Zaman into the discussion.

Latif joked on Geo News’ Harana Mana Hai show, “We are proud of them. We are more proud because he (Shadab) is playing and Fakhar Zaman is warming the bench (laughs).”

Mohammad Amri says India treating Pakistan wins as routine

Meanwhile, Mohammad Amir compared past and present eras, saying the current rivalry with India is not the same as the intense battles of the 90s. Slamming Shadab, the former fast bowler, mentioned that India now treats wins over Pakistan as routine.

Amir said on the same show during the discussion, “Okay, Pakistan won in 2021 (T20 World Cup). But there is a difference between Pakistan and India in the 90s. Team India was scared at that time. But now they didn’t take us seriously. They are winning but are not celebrating. Because it’s their daily routine. That’s the difference.”

Ahmed Shehzad slams the current Pakistan team over India record

On the other hand, Ahmed Shehzad argued that the current group has played more matches against India than many past generations. He pointed out that this team had enough chances to change history, but failed to build consistency. Shehzad also questioned why the team keeps talking about one old win when recent defeats keep piling up.

The cricket pundit further noted that if the same set of players keeps losing, they must accept responsibility instead of hiding behind that one old victory. Shehzad said during the discussion, “They are talking about the 90s. How long did they play in the World Cup? Four years. Back then there was no T20 cricket. The T20 World Cup started much later and was held every few years.”

He added, “The current group has played the most matches against India compared to previous generations. And you kept playing with the same group of people. So, it was their responsibility to change the norm and defeat India again and again. Not every time, but at least once in a while. But they keep only losing and talking like this. They must accept blame instead of defending themselves.”
