The selection committee of the Indian women’s national team has declared a full squad for the upcoming away Test match against Australia. India will face Australia in one Test, scheduled from 6th to 9th March 2026, which will be played at the WACA.
With no surprise, the selection committee named the Women’s World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur as the leader of the team and Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. The inclusions of Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma will definitely bolster their batting strength.
BCCI named the full squad for the India vs Australia Test match
But it is necessary to remember that the recent successes India’s women’s team gained are in the limited overs format, but their upcoming assignment will be a Test match, where the ball game will be completely different. Instead of power-hitting skills, the format will test the nerves of the batters and their resilience at their best.
Apart from many obvious names, selectors had to name a substitute because of an injury issue. In a press release published on January 24, 2026, the board informs about the replacement of G Kamalini. “Meanwhile, wicket-keeper G Kamalini is ruled out of India’s Australia tour, and the selectors have named Uma Chetry as her replacement in India’s T20Is and ODI squads,” the board informed.
