The right-handed batter continued his good form from the first Test and looked terrific right from the very start in the second Test. He was totally calm and composed in the middle, scoring his fifty off 125 balls, which was his slowest ever.
Shubman Gill was in full control while facing the England bowlers, and he didn’t play many false shots. He completed his century off 199 balls and finished Day 1 with an unbeaten 114 runs.
On Day 2, Gill reached the 150-run mark in 263 balls and the historic double century milestone in 311 balls. After hitting the double hundred, Gill accelerated and in no time got past the score of 250 runs.
It looked like he would easily score a triple ton, but that didn’t happen as he got out in a poor manner by pulling a delivery from Josh Tongue straight into the hands of Ollie Pope at square leg. Shubman Gill finished his innings with a score of 269 runs off 387 balls, with 30 fours and 3 sixes.
