BPL Match-Fixing: Sylhet Titans official blows whistle on own player – ‘He sold himself in Qualifier 2’

BPL 2026

A fresh allegation of match fixing in BPL rocked Bangladesh cricket amid the ongoing venue controversies ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from next month. As of now, it is unclear whether the Bangladesh cricket team will participate in the tournament or not, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) raised safety concerns for the cricketers in India.

Now, a fresh allegation of match-fixing during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26 (BPL 2025-26) came as a big blow to them. After the Rajshahi Warriors vs Sylhet Titans BPL 2025-26 play-off match on Wednesday, Sylhet Titans adviser Fahim Al Chowdhury raised some serious allegations of match fixing through a live session on Facebook. Fahim claimed that the result of the match came through an ill process. He believes that there were betrayals in their own camp.

Rajshahi Warriors vs Sylhet Titans BPL 2026 becomes a topic for discussion

Batting first, Rajshahi Warriors registered a commanding total of 165 in 20 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla in Dhaka. Sylhet Titans went off to a flying start in the second innings with Parvez Hossain Emon scoring 48 runs as one of the openers of the team.

The match was tight in the middle hours as the second batting team was trying their best to meet the required run rate to claim the target score. At one stage of the contest, Sylhet needed 40 runs from 21 balls.

But things fell apart for them during the closing stage of the game. Rajshahi eventually won the match by only 12 runs and knocked Sylhet out of the tournament. After the match, Fahim, who was visibly disappointed with the match result, announced his resignation before the media. Later, he came on a Facebook Live and made some explosive claims.

“Match was severely tainted” – BPL team adviser

Addressing the BPL team followers, he directly said that the match was not fair; it was tainted, as he had good information from a reliable source, which pointed to possible match-fixing.

“Today’s match was severely tainted. I have received reliable information that a person involved in the match sold himself. He lied to us, betrayed Sylhet, and cheated the Sylhet Titans. Most importantly, he cruelly betrayed the emotions of the people of Sylhet,” he said.

BPL Match-Fixing: Money might have been involved in the matter

He further claimed that there was a huge chance that, for a handsome chunk of money, someone might have polluted the game. Fahim vowed to take the matter seriously through an investigation process.

“There was no need for this. He could have told me how much money he needed, and it would have been arranged. This truth has truly broken me. I will not let this end here. The issue will be investigated thoroughly, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible,” he added.
