After several reports had claimed the growing tension among the Bangladesh players regarding their fate in the ICC T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh government sports advisor, alongside the BCB, announced a meeting with the national players regarding the issue of the ICC T20 World Cup.
BCB’s issues have escalated to the extent that the board might be on the verge of withdrawing from the ICC event, but has not yet decided to step in and feature in the competition, keeping aside their demands.
BCB’s demands were nothing but a swap of venues from India to Sri Lanka, which, when ruled out by BCCI, made them submit a fresh claim where they demanded a group swap with team Ireland, who have all their matches in Sri Lanka. However, the ICC has stated that no changes are possible to the declared schedule.
Bangladesh government called the Bangladesh players in for a meeting
A Cricbuzz report had revealed that the Bangladesh government sports advisor, Asif Nazrul, had called for a meeting with the BCB and the players in the Bangladesh National side to brief them on the current situation regarding the ICC T20 World Cup participation.
This step was taken by the Bangladesh government, citing the increasing tension between Bangladesh players regarding the World Cup participation, which was also spoken of by skipper Litton Kumar Das.
The players have been asked to attend the meeting, which is scheduled from 3 PM at the Hotel InterContinental, as the government would like to brief them about their position regarding the participation of the national side.
Five Bangladesh cricketers to ignore the government’s call for the meeting
The meeting has not only been scheduled to let the players know about the government or the BCB’s version of things ahead of the T20 World Cup, but they will also be allowed to present their viewpoints on the ongoing issue.
The Bangladesh players’ opinion regarding their participation in or withdrawal from the T20 World Cup shall be heard by Nazrul Asif. Also, he would be discussing several solutions to resolve the issue.
However, the latest Revsportz reports have claimed that around 5 players will not be attending the meeting between the players, the BCB, and the Bangladesh government representative.

“As a player, who will not want to play the World Cup?” – Bangladesh all-rounder Shaik Mahedi Hasan
Bangladesh all-rounder Shaik Mahedi Hasan confirmed on Tuesday that they have all been called in for such a meeting, which will be chaired by the Bangladesh Sports Advisor. However, he complained that they had no chance to discuss, as they all were informed separately by the BCB.
“No, there was no such talks (among ourselves), as every player in the World Cup team was personally texted for the meeting. When we get there, the mystery will be revealed,” said Mahedi. “They are our guardians, and as players, I feel we should do what they say,” he added.
