Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have once again taken control of India’s magnificent innings, as they play their 392nd match together in international cricket. Virat Kohli has looked in some massive groove as he has surpassed the former Australian captain Ricky Ponting’s all-time record.
The ongoing series marks Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s return to international cricket for India on home soil. They made their return to international cricket back in the tour to Australia, where Rohit single-handedly scored 200+ runs while Kohli struggled initially, but then made a strong comeback with a half-century in the final game.
Virat Kohli breaks Ricky Ponting’s all-time record
Virat Kohli is still continuing to feature in the record books, as the 37-year-old makes the much-awaited return to International cricket on home soil. He came out to bat after Yashasvi Jaiswal edged Nandre Burger back to Quinton de Kock.
Virat Kohli looked full of intent from the first ball he faced. He smashed Nadre Burger straight over his head with a stunning shot and took his six count to 217, which equalled his tally with former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
Then, in the final over of the powerplay, Kohli stepped down the crease and played an inside-out shot to deposit another one into the stands. Kohli now has the most sixes by a No. 3 batter across all formats of international cricket with 218* sixes.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli surpass 5500 international runs in partnership
Rohit Sharma, the veteran Indian opener and Virat Kohli, the legendary Indian first-down batter, have been serving India with their peak batting performances. The two legends are undoubtedly one of the greatest duos in World cricket.
This time at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium, the two legends shared another century partnership for India. This marked the second century for them since the Sydney match in the previous series against Australia.
The two legends have now surpassed 5500+ runs in partnerships for India and are one of India’s top three batting pairs in international cricket. Rohit was dismissed in the 22nd over of play with Marco Jansen’s ball keeping low and trapping the Indian great in front of the stumps.
Rohit Sharma now has the most sixes in ODI cricket history
Indian batting legend Rohit Sharma reached his half-century in the 19th over of the game, and after reaching the milestone. Rohit marked his third consecutive half-century since the second ODI in the Australia tour.
After getting to his fifty, he launched Marco Jansen for a six over the fine leg boundary with his trademark pull shot. With these six of Jansen, he surpassed former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record of most ODI sixes.
This marked Rohit’s 352nd six in international one-dayers, and he is now the highest six-hitter in ODI cricket and is among the top six hitters in the history of the gentleman’s game.
