Wildest Cricket Shot Zimbabwe Batter Plays One Handed Reverse Sweep Off George Linde Watch Video

Zimbabwe batter Tadiwanashe Marumani probably played the most bizarre shot in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. During the ongoing Super 8 match of the tournament against South Africa (SA vs ZIM), the left-handed batter unusually swung the bat.

Against the spinner George Linde, the batter went for a reverse shot, but a one-handed reverse sweep, which is not something cricket fans are used to seeing every day. Avoiding every cricket book rule to play a reverse sweep, Tadiwanashe Marumani might have chosen the most peculiar style. Though he did not make contact with the ball.

A Zimbabwe opener tried to execute a one-handed sweep shot in the very first over of the match

The bat swing was rapid, but the impact was zero. The ball hit the pad and ended as a dot ball. The southpaw did not last long on the crease as South Africa pacer Kwena Maphaka bowled him with only 7 runs off 7 balls. Zimbabwe lost their first wicket for 14 runs in 1.2 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

It is a dead rubber in Delhi as the gates of both of the teams are confirmed already – Zimbabwe knocked out of the tournament, and South Africa will play the Semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026. But still, both of the sides have different reasons to claim today’s match.

Both teams have reasons to win today’s match

The Proteas, who topped their group and defeated India and the West Indies to confirm their semifinal spot, will try to outplay Zimbabwe as well to keep their winning streak intact.

On the other side, Zimbabwe, the underdog team which had overtook the challenges of Australia and Sri Lanka in the group stage, is yet to register a win in the Super 8. In their previous two Super 8 fixtures, against India and Zimbabwe, the Chevrons left the venues empty-handed. By defeating South Africa, the Sikandar Raza-led team will try to protect their pride before taking their return flight.

Zimbabwe suffered multiple early blows vs South Africa

Though, the initial stage of the match was not among the best starts the team had in the tournament. Inside 12 overs, they have lost half of their batting line-up for only 87. And Tadiwanashe Marumani, the 24-year-old batter who tried to go fancy in the very first over of the match, should try to improve his batting.

The young batter played multiple handy knocks for the national team, but on every occasion, they failed to convert the momentum into a long-standing innings. 35 was his highest score in the T20 World Cup 2926, which he scored against Australia for a winning reason. In the following match, against Sri Lanka, he played a 34-run knock again for a winning cause.
