Daren Sammy issues open threat to Gautam Gambhir’s India ahead of T20 World Cup clash

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy attended the press conference and has shown great motivation to face India. The former West Indies captain also claims to make use of his experience of being here in the past and their impeccable record at the Eden Gardens.

Ahead of the much-anticipated do-or-die contest between India and the West Indies, the two teams will have a clash of mentality. The mental framework is crucial for teams during this phase of preparation, and West Indies head coach Daren Sammy’s interview was an attack on India’s mental foundation ahead of the big game.

Coach Daren Sammy declares to flex batting strength against India

The first thing that Sammy mentioned during the contest was that bygones are bygones for him and the team. They have left the South Africa game back in Ahmedabad and now only move on further into the contest with a positive mindset.

They are well aware of their batting strengths and will have a chance to prove that once again against India. “We have good batting, we showed that at the end vs SA, which was unfortunate. I think that we have a chance to show that again tomorrow,” said Sammy.

Daren Sammy also did not seem tense that they would be facing the host nation for such a vital game; he rather pointed out that he is excited for the contest with 80000 people at the ground and 1.4 billion outside.

I use my experience, being here before, on how good Eden Gardens has been for us.” – Daren Sammy

Daren Sammy was the captain of the West Indian side last time they visited India back in 2016 during a World Cup. The West Indies won the World Cup for the second time at the same venue as the Eden Gardens.

He has hence mentioned that he would be using his experience to be out there on former occasions and the way the Eden Gardens has favoured them. The West Indies are unbeatable at the Eden Gardens in a T20 World Cup fixture.

Sammy issues an open challenge to India, but without underestimating them

Daren Sammy also spoke very highly of his players. He showed great faith in all XI players of the West Indian side and claimed that they would prove to be dangerous against the Indians. However, alongside the warnings issued, he has also been cautious against the defending champions.

India are one of the strongest sides in T20 cricket, and Daren Sammy strongly believes them to be the greatest competitor. Hence, he has claimed it to be a fitting contest between two heavily armed sides.
