The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is all set to mark a historic achievement by hosting Sri Lanka in a multi-format series in their home grounds. After the conclusion of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, both sides will lock horns in the bilateral series.
On February 23, ACB released an official press release, announcing the upcoming series with Sri Lanka. From March 13 to March 23, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will be engaged in a Three-match T20I series, followed by a 3-match ODI series.

The action will then shift to Dubai for the ODI series, with matches scheduled to be held on March 20, 22, and 25 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, ACB informed in their official release.
Through the press release, the cricket governing board has informed that it will be the first time in their history of cricket when Sri Lanka will be head-to-head with them for a bilateral competition. The tournament is a part of their future plans with an aim to continue their growth in the game.
Subsequently, the white ball series will help the two nations to make a strong bond, which can be useful in the upcoming days. Through the matches with leading cricketing nations, Afghanistan has the desire to achieve good results in multi-team tournaments arranged by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“Additionally, the series is fundamental to our mission as we begin to further build our team and enhance key areas that need improvement. Our primary goal is to prepare the team for the major ICC and ACC events and the numerous bilateral commitments scheduled over the next two years”, he continued.
