During a practice session in Ahmedabad ahead of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar Yadav shared a fun moment with Abhishek Sharma. The India captain was seen checking Abhishek’s pockets in a light-hearted manner.

Suryakumar appeared to tease Abhishek by looking to see whether he was carrying a similar note during the training session, amid the opener’s disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Abhishek Sharma Under Pressure After Three Consecutive Ducks in T20 World Cup 2026

Abhishek Sharma came into the T20 World Cup 2026 as a key part of India’s batting plans, but his campaign has not gone as expected. He has struggled to make an impact and is yet to score a run in the tournament.

The left-hander has been dismissed for three consecutive ducks against the United States of America, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. He also missed the group match against Namibia due to a stomach infection. With Sanju Samson in contention, the young opener needs to deliver in the upcoming matches.

Despite the struggles, Abhishek remains the No. 1-ranked T20I batter in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. He has scored 1,297 runs in 40 T20I innings at a strike rate of 192.43. However, he has been dismissed for a duck five times in his last seven outings.

Making a Comeback Is Not That Difficult – Virender Sehwag on Abhishek

Speaking on Cricbuzz, former India opener Virender Sehwag said that Abhishek Sharma needs to show more patience at the crease. Sehwag stated that Abhishek is struggling due to poor shot selection, adding that he should first focus on playing a few balls before playing attacking shots.

“It was a ball to be hit but he missed it. I have been in his shoes, making 2-3 zeroes, but making a comeback is not that difficult because it is just about the mindset,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
