Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sits out for first CBSE Class 10 exam; set to give next exam?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been an upcoming sensation for India. The 14-year-old batter made headlines after appearing in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was picked by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Vaibhav, who is just a teenager, was supposed to appear for the CBSE Class 10th exam today.

However, as ANI, the Southpaw did not appear for the examination. Due to travel and cricket commitments, he could not prepare for the exam. Previously, Manish Ojha, his coach, informed that he will not be appearing for the board exams as he has already joined the pre-season training camp with the Royals for the upcoming IPL season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi do not appear for the CBSE exam

Sooryavanshi is enrolled in Modesty School in Tajpur, Bihar, and was scheduled to sit for Class 10 board exams from February 17 to March 11.

“He won’t be giving the Class X exams. He is currently in Nagpur preparing for the upcoming IPL. He has already joined Rajasthan Royals for a pre-season camp,” Ojha said while speaking to India Today.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to appear in next exam?

The Principal of Podar International School, NK Sinha, has given his views on the Indian U-19 cricketer not appearing for the CBSE Class 10th exam. He said while speaking with ANI, “He is absent today. He has not come to the examination centre. We have marked him absent according to the policy of CBSE. If a student is absent, we have to mark him absent.”

“We were expecting him to come and give the examination, but there are many other obligations. There could be a cricket match or a practice… I think he will definitely take the next exam.”

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was in sensational form during the U-19 Cricket World Cup, as the left-handed opener scored a hundred in the final of the competition against England. He scored an 80-ball 175, smashing the English bowlers all round the ground. Vaibhav, in the innings, struck 15 sixes and as many boundaries. While he was batting, India’s projected score was nearing 500.

India scored 410 in the game and won the game by a margin of 100 runs to secure their sixth U-19 title. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named the man of the match and also won the Player of the Tournament for scoring 439 runs in seven innings with an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of close to 170.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi finished the U-19 World Cup as the second-highest run-getter. He has the record for smashing the second fastest and the fastest hundred by an Indian in IPL history. He also became the youngest cricketer to score a century in T20s. Vaibhav smashed the century in just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans.

Sooryavanshi will look to continue with his red-hot form and not get distracted away from cricket with the hype and media attention he has been gaining from his performance. He would need to focus on cricket and find his way to make a debut for the senior side in the upcoming years.
