Jason Holder completed his hundred in the T20 International format, a century with the ball. The seam bowling all-rounder took his 100th T20I wicket during the West Indies vs Scotland T20 World Cup 2026 match on February 7 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
West Indies went to face Scotland for the second game of the tournament, after the opening match between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Like the Pakistan vs. Netherlands contest, the match between the West Indies and Scotland was also a treat to watch for the cricket fans.
Record making moment for Jason Holder
Jason Holder, 34, is among the top active T20 specialists for the West Indies cricket team. The Caribbeans are well known for their batting strengths, as well as for performing with inconsistency. To make a positive mark in this year’s T20 World Cup, the former World Cup winner needs someone who can perform in a steady manner. Jason Holder, with all his experiences, can be that performer the West Indies are looking for.
The star cricketer concluded 2025 with 97 T20 wickets, the most by any bowler in the format in a calendar year. To touch down the 100-mark, he needed only three scalps. What could be a better stage than the T20 World Cup 2026 to claim the special achievement?
As soon as he dismissed Richie Berrington, captain of the Scotland cricket team, Jason Holder completed his ‘century’—100 wickets in T20Is. With Berrington in the middle, Scotland was moving slowly but steadily towards the target score. His wicket was very crucial for the West Indies, as the middle-order batter was well settled on the track.
These is how Holder touched the milestone
In the second ball of the 14th over of the second innings, the Caribbean pacer removed the Scottish pillar from their batting structure. Holder launched a short pitch outside of the stumps delivery to lure the batter. The batter tried to hook the ball, but there was barely any pace on the ball. The slower trap settled the batter timely. The batter somehow managed to play a cut shot, but without proper connection.
The ball flew towards the deep point, where Shamar Joseph made no mistake. Richie Berrington had to go for a well-made 42 off 24 with three 4s and a pair of 6s. Jason Holder got his 100th T20I wicket, the first Windies bowler to reach that milestone. Overall, the sixth to take 100 wickets in all three formats in international cricket.
A stylish win for the West Indies cricket team
Meanwhile, the West Indies won their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2026 by 35 runs against Scotland. The match will be remembered throughout the tournament because of some splendid displays of cricket by the Caribbeans.
Shimron Hetmyer was stunning with the bat and fielding efforts, Jason Holder completed his 100th T20I wicket, and last but not least, a hat trick. Romario Shepherd got a hat-trick in this match to seal the match. The West Indies took off in style.
