Breaking: ‘Unwell’ Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of World Cup-Opener, Suryakumar Yadav Confirms Replacement

Jasprit Bumrah RULED OUT of T20 World Cup 2026 match

Team India will be launching their campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by taking on the USA on Saturday (February 7) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Men in Blue are the defending champions and will be hoping to start their title-defence with an impressive win. However, they will have to do it without their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The right-arm pacer has been ruled out of the match against the USA.

Speaking at toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the development, saying that Jasprit Bumrah won’t play against the USA because he is unwell. The India skipper also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the playing eleven.

No Jasprit Bumrah in India’s Playing XI:

Suryakumar also stated that Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar are also not in the playing eleven. With Samson out, Ishan Kishan will be opening the innings with Abhishek Sharma. Tilak Varma has also returned to the playing eleven after missing the five-match series against New Zealand due to an injury.

Meanwhile, India are batting first after losing the toss. Speaking at toss, Suryakumar said: “We were looking to bat first. It looks good here. I played a lot of cricket here. There’s a wind around as well, so I don’t think there’ll be a lot of dew later on. Of course there’ll be a little bit of pressure. We can’t run away from that fact, but then new tournament, we want to play the same way how we’ve been playing in the last one or two years and continue the same thing. It’s live before the game starts and I’m sure when we start batting, it will be more wilder.

“We have Washington Sundar missing out, Sanju Samson missing out. Unfortunately Jasprit Bumrah is not well so Mohammed Siraj is playing,” he added.
