‘If you’ve got guts…’: Harbhajan Singh fires open challenge at Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan after India clash boycott

Harbhajan Singh

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh issued a direct hit on Pakistan, as there is a threat to boycott the India vs. Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match on February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Singh called Pakistan ‘arrogant’ in his remark.

On Sunday, the Government of Pakistan informed that they have decided not to file a case against India on February 15 through their official social media profiles. After the announcement, Pakistan has been facing wrath from a large part of cricket fans. Harbhajan Singh said that Pakistan’s decision to boycott the India match reflects their lack of concerns over their nation’s cricket fans.

Pakistan showing support to Bangladesh

After the ejection of the Bangladesh cricket team, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with the prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif. From cricket’s point of view, Pakistan was not involved in the Bangladesh-ICC row, but they want to show solidarity to Bangladesh, so they threatened to boycott. Pakistan’s standpoints are more political than in relation to cricket.

The interesting fact is that the announcement made on Sunday was by the Government of Pakistan, not by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB is yet inform about their decision to the International Cricket Council in a formal way. Harbhajan Singh challenged Naqvi to go through with the boycott of the India match in the T20 World Cup 2026.

This is just to show arrogance: Harbhajan Singh

“What benefit are you going to get from this?” the former India spinner Harbhajan Singh raised this question in this YouTube channel video.

“This is just to show arrogance. If you really think that you can do something like this, then be adamant. Let’s see if you really have the guts. This is a total drama created to mislead people into thinking that they are standing with Bangladesh. There’s no problem with that, but what have you thought about the people of your country who want the India-Pakistan match to happen?” Harbhajan further added.

Singh mentioned the fact that while Pakistan faced India for the Asia Cup 2025 on multiple occasions, the political relation between the two nations was on the low. But still, Pakistan went to play with India only for the revenue, Singh shared his thoughts.

Harbhajan Singh dragged Asia Cup 2025 in conversation

He also highlighted the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match on February 15 is scheduled to happen in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is a neutral venue. The venue was selected keeping Pakistan’s demand in mind. Now, they are threatening to boycott the game.

“This match was supposed to be played at a neutral venue, and there was no dispute with you. When there was a war recently, you played the Asia Cup despite that. There was the drama about the trophy, but the matches did happen because you were not ready to leave that venue. If you are such a patriot, where was your patriotism there? So, you didn’t have any feelings for your country, but you now want to stand with some other country”. Harbhajan Singh said.
