The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a couple of significant call-ups ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya were released by the Delhi cricket team as they are all set to join the India A-team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
These two batters will be a part of the India A team, which will play warm-up matches against the senior sides. India A is scheduled to play the USA in Navi Mumbai and Namibia in Bengaluru in the T20 World Cup warm-up games on February 2 and 6, respectively.
The Delhi cricket team will miss the star power significantly
In the absence of Badoni, Ayush Doseja will lead the Delhi cricket team in the seventh round of the premier First-Class tournament against Mumbai. Delhi will face Mumbai on January 29 for the knockout match of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season at the MCA Cricket Ground in Mumbai.
Ahead of this match, the Delhi cricket team has been struggling with multiple issues. One of their star players, Rishabh Pant, will not be available to participate in this crucial match because of an injury. He injured his leg again during a practice session with Team India. Now, the absence of Badoni and Arya can put the team on the back foot against a strong Mumbai side.
Though the Mumbai cricket team is also dealing with injuries. Star players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shardul Thakur are not available for the match because of health and injury concerns, respectively.
Badoni was with the India senior team as well
Recently, Badoni had also received his maiden national team call-up after Washington Sundar was sidelined from the India vs New Zealand ODIs. But did not get the chance to play for the senior team in the series.
Last year in November, the India A cricket team featured in the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025. Priyansh Arya was there with the team as a constant figure, combining well with Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the opening slot. The team qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament, where they faced Bangladesh.
Super over concluded the India vs Bangladesh match
The intense match between the India-A team and the Bangladesh-A team concluded through a super over, which Bangladesh won.
Both of the teams scored 194 runs in their respective 20 overs before commencing the super over. Meanwhile, Ayush Badoni was not with the team. He got some recent encouragements in his professional career.
