Pakistan cricketer arrested for RAPE charges amid PCB's revolt against the ICC

Pakistan legend Abdul Qadir’s son, Salman Qadir, has been accused of rape and sexual abuse of his domestic help. The incident has left Pakistan as well as the PCB red-faced amid their ongoing clash with the ICC on the alleged mistreatment of Bangladesh and their boycott of the ICC tournament.

Pakistan cricket is already going through a rough phase after repeated altercations with the ICC on the Indo-Bangladesh issue and the participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Amid all these tensions, a former Pakistani cricketer has been accused of rape charges.

Pakistan are next scheduled to host the Australians for a three-match T20I series ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and would then play in the ICC tournament in Sri Lanka. They have been placed in the same group alongside India, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the USA.

Pakistani cricketer accused of rape

Pakistan cricket’s position is already threatened by the ICC, as they have warned them of sanctions if they withdraw from the competition. The status of the World Cup will be distorted if they let two unqualified teams into the same tournament. Scotland are considered as Bangladesh’s replacement, and if Pakistan withdraws, the ICC would have no choice but to bring in Uganda as its substitute.

Reports have accused former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Qadir’s son, Salman Qadir, of sexual abuse of a domestic worker. Reports from Peakobserver.net have claimed that in a copy of the FIR mentioned, Salman called the maid for work. When she arrived, he forced her into his car and took her to his farmhouse.

He then allegedly raped her in his farmhouse. The case has been registered at the Burki Police Station under Section 376 of the PPC. The authorities confirmed that he has been charged with rape.

Salman Qadir is the son of a Pakistani cricket legend

Salman Qadir is the son of Pakistani cricket legend Abdul Qadir. He has brought shame to a family that once comprised the legendary cricketer who had picked 236 and 132 wickets in Test and ODI cricket for his nation.

Currently, he runs a cricket academy in Lahore; however, the recent incident has also affected the reputation of his academy. His father, the legendary spinner from Pakistan, passed away at the age of 63 back in 2019.

Cricketer Usman Qadir, who has played for Pakistan internationally, is also his brother, and former Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Umar Akmal is his brother-in-law. The 41-year-old has also played domestic cricket in Pakistan, though his career remains very short for Lahore.

The victim’s statement on the accused

The victim, in her statement as recorded by the Police and reported by Times Now, says that the domestic helper works from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. She reported that Qadir, the owner of the house, called her and asked her to arrive early the following day, as he would take her to the farmhouse to get the cleaning done.

She reported at 10 AM on the morning of the 23rd, and the accused picked her up from the front gate of Green City and took her to Farm House no. 2 near the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in Barki.

She claimed that upon reaching there, he forcibly removed her clothes and started committing sexual assault on her. “The accused committed rape (zina-bil-jabar) with me by force, committing a grave injustice. Strict legal action should be taken against him for this,” the statement from the victim read, seeking justice for the heinous crime committed against her.
