A Fresh India vs Pakistan controversy has started to build up, with some mindless backing to the BCB by the PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. The PCB chief backed Bangladesh and wrote to the ICC supporting their plea, after which a meeting has been scheduled to discuss the issues on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh vs India fiasco has been the talk of the town after Bangladesh started citing security concerns about traveling to India and denied featuring in the ICC T20 World Cup to be hosted by the neighbouring nation. They urged the ICC to change the venue and swap it to the co-hosts, Sri Lanka.
The PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, who has been the main villain for the BCCI in recent times and has backed any movements against the prestigious board, has once again looked to stir up a controversy that might reignite the controversies ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Fresh India vs Pakistan controversy on the line ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup
After BCB had objected to travelling to India, several claims were made by the board, which was agitated by the mistreatment of Mustafizur Rahman and the disrespect caused to the board due to the snub. However, the ICC has nullified such claims and clearly stated that no security concerns prevail in the nation.
The ICC has decided to host a final board meeting, and the BCB officials shall be given a final opportunity to discuss their issues on Wednesday. However, the stand from the ICC remains the same: no changes will be made to the schedule of the ICC event.
An ESPNcricinfo report suggested that the PCB has written an email to the ICC supporting BCB’s claims not to play in the country when there has been huge political turmoil. They have also copied the ICC Board members on it. However, the Jay Shah-led board is in no mood to move an inch.
PCB has been mindlessly backing BCB’s stance
Since Day 1, the PCB has been mindlessly backing the BCB’s demand, even without considering the logistical challenges that the international body will face if it accepts their claims to swap their matches to a different venue or attempt to swap the group with some other team.
Previously, in an unconfirmed report, the PCB had also extended its support to the BCB, taking responsibility to host their games if the ICC permits them to do so for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Another report had claimed that PCB would be considering withdrawing from the competition if the Bangladesh issue remains unresolved.
All these add up to another controversy brewing between the India and Pakistan sides. Pakistan does not need to interfere in these matters, as their matches, including the India vs Pakistan match, have been scheduled in Sri Lanka, yet the board continues to stir up a fresh fiasco every time.
PCB official denied World Cup exit on the Bangladesh issue
When the reports started speculating a probable withdrawal from PCB, as the BCB claims were turned down by the ICC, one of the PCB officials had revealed that nothing such has been planned or even discussed with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
He also cited that since all their matches, including the India vs Pakistan rivalry contest scheduled in Sri Lanka, and their players not even facing visa issues, they simply have no reason to oppose any idea of the ICC.
The India vs Pakistan contest yet remains one of the most anticipated games in an ICC event, as the two rival teams meet only once or twice a year, and that too in these international events.
