The situation around Mustafizur Rahman has taken a dramatic turn as rising tensions between India and Bangladesh spill into the cricket world. Rahman’s IPL participation has now turned into a full-blown controversy involving the cricket boards and authorities of both countries.
BCB Revokes Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC, Rules Him Out of IPL 2026
After Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released Mustafizur Rahman following the BCCI’s order on the political pressure, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) responded with a strong and final move.
With protests growing in India over attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, the BCB reviewed the matter at the highest level. As reported by Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board held a meeting involving senior board officials and concerned authorities.

Following the discussion, the BCB decided to cancel Rahman’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the IPL 2026 with immediate effect. The board felt that the current situation is not safe enough for the left-arm pacer to travel or take part in the IPL 2026.

KKR U-Turn Won’t Matter: BCB Slams Door Shut on Mustafizur’s IPL Return
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also made its position very clear going forward. Even if Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) changes its mind or attempts to bring Mustafizur back later, the Bangladesh fast bowler will not be allowed to play in the IPL under the present circumstances.
With the NOC withdrawn by the BCB, Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL 2026 campaign is not only officially ended, but also there is no way for him to play for the KRR in the tournament, at least in the upcoming season.
What can I do? Mustafizur Shattered
Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman had expressed his disappointment over his release by the KKR. The left-arm pacer was quoted as saying by BDCricTime, “If they release me, what can I do?”
Notably, the Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Mustafizur for INR 9.20 crore after an intense bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in the IPL Auction 2026 last month. He has already played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and KKR in the tournament.
BCB Seeks Answers from BCCI Over Mustafizur’s IPL Exit
There is growing disbelief within the BCB over how quickly the situation changed. They were earlier confident about a positive relationship with India and had even announced a schedule for an India tour, but the sudden cancellation of Rahman’s IPL contract has left the board confused.
BCB officials are now waiting for a clear explanation from the BCCI to understand why the decision was taken. A BCB source was quoted as saying by PTI on conditions of anonymity, “The BCB announced the schedule for India’s tour of Bangladesh because there was a sense of positivity, but now we need to get an official confirmation from the Indian board as to why Mustafizur’s contract was cancelled. Till now BCCI hasn’t communicated anything to BCB officially. Only after official communication will BCB decide on a further course of action.”
