Bihar skipper Sakibul Gani created history by smashing the fastest List A century by an Indian during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 match against Arunachal Pradesh. Gani and 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi helped the state team register the highest-ever total in men’s List A cricket, surpassing Tamil Nadu’s record.
Bihar won the toss and opted to bat first at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi on Wednesday, December 24. Suryavanshi played one of the most explosive knocks seen in Indian domestic cricket. The left-handed batter reached his century off just 36 balls. He scored 190 runs from just 84 deliveries before being dismissed.

Sakibul Gani created history by scoring the fastest List A century by an Indian. The Bihar captain reached his hundred in just 32 balls during the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group match.
Batting at No. 5, Gani attacked the bowlers from the start and quickly took control of the innings. His aggressive approach left the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers with no answers.
Gani broke the previous Indian record of a 35-ball century held by Anmolpreet Singh. He also went past Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 36-ball hundred, which had come earlier on the same day.

Bihar created history by recording the highest team total ever in List A cricket during their match against Arunachal Pradesh. Bihar surpassed Tamil Nadu’s previous record of 506/2, which was set in 2022, to move to the top of the all-time list.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi set the tone with 190 off 84 balls, while Ayush Loharuka (116) and Sakibul Gani (128) smashed centuries. Piyush Kumar Singh also chipped in with 77. Bihar scored freely throughout the innings and sealed a historic world-record total in List A cricket.

Sakibul Gani From Humble Beginnings to Record-Breaking Feats
Sakibul Gani comes from a humble background in the East Champaran district of Motihari. Born on September 2, 1999, he faced many challenges early in life but stayed focused on his dream of becoming a professional cricketer.
After years of hard work, Gani made his List A debut for Bihar in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy on October 7, 2019. While his early journey had ups and downs, he continued to push forward and earn opportunities in domestic cricket.
His biggest breakthrough came in February 2022 during his Ranji Trophy debut. Gani scored 341 runs and became the first player in cricket history to hit a triple century on his first-class debut.
In his next two innings, Gani scored 98 and then an unbeaten 101. He recorded 540 runs across his first three first-class innings, the highest ever by any batter.
